Settings — Service Areas

Feature Overview

Service Areas let you define named sub-zones within a Revenue Center for reporting purposes. For example, within your Main Dining Room Revenue Center, you might define service areas such as "Window Section," "Bar Adjacent," or "Private Room." Assigning tables and sections to service areas gives your management team the ability to break down sales, covers, and performance by a specific area of the restaurant in reports.

How It Affects the System

  • Service Areas are reporting groupings only — they do not change how the POS functions or how guests experience your restaurant. They are purely organizational labels used to segment your reporting data.
  • Once service areas are created and tables are assigned to them, any reports that support service area filtering will allow you to drill down into performance by area (covers served, revenue generated, etc.).
  • Service areas are configured per Revenue Center — use the Revenue Center tabs to set up areas for each section of your restaurant.

Prerequisites / Requirements

  • Restaurant edit or view permissions are required.
  • At least one Revenue Center must be configured before service areas can be created within it.

Common Troubleshooting / FAQs

Q: I created service areas but they are not appearing as a filter option in my reports. Service areas appear as filters only in reports that support area-level segmentation. Confirm that the tables or sections you want to track have been assigned to the appropriate service area. If service areas were just created, you may need to refresh the report page to load the updated filter options.

Q: I can't find Service Areas in my Settings menu. Service Areas may not be visible if your account doesn't have the relevant permission. Contact your restaurant administrator to confirm that your account has restaurant edit or view permissions. Additionally, Service Areas only appear once at least one Revenue Center is configured.
