Managing Global Modifiers
Feature Overview
Global Modifiers are modifier groups that apply across multiple menu items simultaneously on the POS — instead of attaching the same modifier group to each item individually. This is useful for options that apply to a wide range of items, such as "Add-ons," "Allergen Flags," or "Temperature Preferences" that span an entire section of the menu.
Prerequisites / Requirements
- Your account must have Menu view or edit permissions.
- A Revenue Center must be active and selected.
Step-by-Step Guide
Viewing Global Modifiers
- In the left-hand navigation sidebar, click Kitchen Hub.
- Under the Menu group, click Global Modifiers.
- All configured global modifier sets are listed on this page.
Creating a New Global Modifier Set
- On the Global Modifiers page, click + Add Group (or the equivalent create button).
- Enter a name for the global modifier set.
- Add options to the group the same way as standard modifiers — click + Add Option, enter the option name and any price adjustment, then click Save.
Editing a Global Modifier Set
- Click the global modifier set you want to update.
- Modify the name or adjust, add, or remove options as needed.
- Click Save to apply changes. Because global modifiers apply across multiple items simultaneously, changes here will immediately affect all items that use this modifier on the POS.
Common Troubleshooting / FAQs
Q: How are Global Modifiers different from regular Modifiers? Standard modifiers must be individually attached to each menu item that should offer them. Global Modifiers apply to a broader set of items automatically at the POS level, reducing the setup time required when the same modifier applies to many items across different menu sections.
Q: I updated a global modifier option but it is still showing the old name on the POS. The POS may need to be refreshed to load the updated modifier data. Ask staff to pull down to refresh or restart the POS app on the affected device.
