Settings — Contactless

Feature Overview

Contactless settings enable and configure your restaurant's contactless ordering, payment, and pickup experience. When enabled, guests at your tables can scan a QR code with their phone, browse your menu, place their order, and pay — all without interacting with a physical menu or waiting for a server to take payment. This section controls whether this experience is active and how it behaves.

How It Affects the System

  • Order from Table is the core contactless feature. When enabled, guests at a table can use a QR code to place orders directly through the Katalyst diner app or web experience. These orders flow into your POS as standard tickets, visible to kitchen staff and management like any other order.
  • Disabling contactless ordering here removes the ability for guests to place orders via QR code. Staff must handle all ordering through the POS as usual.
  • Changes to contactless settings take effect immediately — enabling or disabling the feature applies to the next guest session that scans a table QR code.
  • The QR codes themselves are generated and managed from the Kitchen Hub > QR-Code for Customer Ordering section.

Prerequisites / Requirements

  • Restaurant edit or view permissions are required.
  • QR codes for each table must be generated and placed at the appropriate locations. See Kitchen Hub > QR-Code for Customer Ordering for setup.

Enabling Contactless Ordering

  1. In the Order from Table section, toggle the contactless ordering switch on.

Disabling Contactless Ordering

  1. Toggle the contactless ordering switch off.
  2. Guests who scan a QR code will no longer be able to place orders through it.

  2. Enable or disable each as appropriate for your restaurant's workflow.

Common Troubleshooting / FAQs

Q: Guests are scanning the QR code but nothing happens or they see an error. First, verify that contactless ordering is toggled on in Settings > Contactless. If it is enabled, confirm that the QR code the guest is scanning was generated correctly from Kitchen Hub > QR-Code for Customer Ordering and is assigned to an active Revenue Center. If both checks pass, confirm the guest's device has a working internet connection — contactless ordering requires an active data or Wi-Fi connection.

Q: Contactless orders are coming through but are not appearing on the KDS or POS. Verify that your Kitchen Display System or POS is online and connected. Contactless orders flow through the same channel as POS-entered orders. If your KDS is offline or the POS is in offline mode, incoming contactless orders may be queued until connectivity is restored.
