Reading the Rating Summary

Feature Overview

The Rating Summary panel at the top of the Reviews page gives you an aggregate, at-a-glance view of how guests are rating their experience across each survey category. Rather than reading every individual review, you can quickly see your overall score for any category and identify areas that may need attention.

Prerequisites / Requirements

  • Your account must have Reviews view or edit permissions.
  • At least one guest must have submitted a survey for rating data to appear.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. On the Reviews page, look at the Rating Summary panel displayed at the top of the page.
  2. On the left side of the summary panel, you will see buttons representing each survey category (e.g., Overall Experience, Food Quality, Service, and any other categories you have configured in your checkout survey).
  3. Click any category button to switch the displayed breakdown to that category.
  4. The center section shows a bar chart with the star-rating distribution — how many guests gave 1 star, 2 stars, 3 stars, 4 stars, or 5 stars for the selected category.
  5. The right side displays the calculated average score out of 5.00 and an overall percentage rating for that category.

Common Troubleshooting / FAQs

Q: The Rating Summary only shows one category. The categories in the summary panel correspond directly to the questions configured in Settings > Guest Facing Checkout Survey. If only one category appears, only one survey question is currently enabled. Add more questions in Settings to track additional categories.

Q: The average score seems lower than expected. Each submitted review counts equally toward the average. A single low rating from a guest can noticeably impact the score if the total review count is small. As more guests complete surveys, the average will stabilize to better reflect the broader guest experience.
