Menu Search

Overview

The Menu Search feature lets staff quickly find any menu item across all categories by typing a search term. Instead of browsing through categories and sub-categories to locate a specific item, staff can type the item name and add it directly to the open check from the search results.

Prerequisites

  • A check must be open in the Check Composer before searching.
  • Menu items must be active and assigned to categories in your back office menu.

  1. Open a check in the Check Composer.
  2. Tap the Search icon or the search input area in the menu browser panel.
  3. The Menu Search screen opens with a Search Menu... text field at the top.
  4. Type the name or partial name of the item you are looking for.
  5. The results list below updates in real-time as you type, showing all matching menu items.
  6. Tap the item in the results list to add it to the check.
  7. If the item has required modifiers, the modifier selection screen opens automatically.

  • Tap Cancel at any time to close the search screen and return to the Check Composer without adding any items.

Troubleshooting

The item I searched for is not appearing in results

  • Confirm the item is active in your back office menu. Inactive items are not visible on the POS.
  • If the item has been 86'd (marked unavailable), it will not appear in search results. Check the Menu 86 screen in Settings to verify availability.
  • Try a partial word or an alternate spelling of the item name.

Search results are empty

  • Confirm the search text does not have extra spaces or typos.
  • If all items are missing, the menu data may not have loaded. Log out and back in to refresh the menu.
